
The President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Shammi Silva, has tendered his resignation from the post, effective 29th of April, 2026.
Along with him, the office bearers and members of the Executive Committee of the SLC have also submitted their resignations.
This decision has been formally communicated to His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Honorable Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Sunil Kumara Gamage.
When Mr. Shammi Silva first assumed leadership of Sri Lanka Cricket in February 2019, the institution was navigating a challenging phase—both on and off the field. What followed was a tenure marked by strategic reform, infrastructure development, and a renewed focus on restoring Sri Lanka’s cricketing identity.
Strengthening Governance & Financial Stability

Significant investments were made in upgrading stadiums and training facilities across the island. Grassroots cricket received renewed attention, with programs aimed at identifying and nurturing young talent from rural areas—ensuring a broader and more inclusive talent pipeline.
